					Creator 
				</head>
				<p>
					Charles Gilbert graduated from the University of Maine, Orono in 1894. He worked as an engineer for Great Northern Paper Company until his retirement in 1924. Mr. Gilbert lived in Bangor, owned a home in Castine, and took several trips around the world. 
				</p>

			<p>
				The collection is comprised of home movies shot on 16 mm film by Charles Gilbert and several commercial short films on 9.5 mm film. The amateur footage covers family vacations, sports, circus footage, University of Maine football games, footage of the Wyman Dam under construction across the Kennebec River at Bingham, Maine, and a detailed record of a trip around the world on the steam ship Empress of Australia in 1928-1929. The collection also contains 400 35 mm. slides from various trips.
